Outreach Reaches Out For a Fair Cup of Coffee

Want a fair cup of coffee, or a good cup?  How about a Fair Trade cup of coffee, that is good in the best sense of the word?

Most of us drink coffee, tea or cocoa every day.  When we purchase domestic coffee brands at the least expensive price, we are unintentional participants in an exploitive system that has trapped thousands of developing world farmers, their families, and the employees of the large coffee haciendas in an inescapable cycle of poverty.

When we purchase fair Trade beverages, especially through the Equal Exchange's Interfaith Program, UMCOR receives approximately 5% of the purchase price to be used in UMCOR's small farmer economic development programs.

You will soon be drinking Fair Trade coffee and tea after church because you Outreach Commission voted to join the over 5,000 other places of worship and faith-based organizations who support small coffee farmers.  On the patio you will also be able to purchase your own supply of Fair Trade coffee, tea, or cocoa for home use.
